Robert Mercer

We are honoured to recognize Robert Mercer AKA Bob as a recipient of the King Charles III Medal for Volunteer Service.

Robert is the kind of volunteer every organization dreams of having always there when needed, always ready to help, and always willing to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.

For years, Robert has been the steady, dependable driver behind our foodbank truck, faithfully making pickups three times a week to ensure our shelves stay stocked and our community stays fed. Rain, snow, or sunshine, you can count on Robert to be there.

But his dedication doesn’t stop behind the wheel.
Robert is also one of our trusted income tax filer volunteers, helping clients navigate the paperwork and access the benefits they need.

And when something breaks in our beloved 100-year-old food bankbuilding?
You can bet Robert is already halfway through fixing it. Whether it’s a leaky pipe, a sticky door, or a mystery rattle that defies explanation, Robert is our go-to handyman, keeping the place running with patience and skill.

He’s also a quiet source of wisdom, regularly offering fabulous advice to the Executive Director whether it’s a practical solution, a strategic suggestion, or just the right words at the right time. His calm, steady presence is valued more than he knows.

Robert, we are so grateful for you. Your hard work, reliability, generosity, and thoughtful leadership have made a lasting difference to our organization and to the many lives we touch.
